These terms cover your use of the Iron Raven Plate Calc iOS app ("the app"), made by Jason Swalwell, trading as Iron Raven ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the app you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
These terms sit alongside Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which also applies. If the two conflict, Apple's agreement wins on anything it covers.
1. What the app does
Plate Calc helps you work out which plates to load on a barbell for a target weight, using the bar weight, collars and plate inventory you configure. It supports gym and competition-style setups, multiple gym profiles, kg and lb plate sets, target and stack entry modes, and related settings.
2. Your licence
We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as allowed by Apple's usage rules. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell or redistribute the app, except where the law allows it.
3. Free version and Pro unlock
The app is free to download.
The free version includes the full calculator, inventory editing and up to two gym profiles, with a limit of ten successful plate calculations in total (counting distinct successful loads, not every keystroke).
Pro is a single, one-time in-app purchase with no subscription. It removes the calculation limit and allows unlimited gym profiles on your Apple ID and, where Family Sharing is turned on, for your family group.
- Apple processes the payment. Its terms, prices and refund policy apply. To ask for a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com.
- If you reinstall the app or use a new device, use Settings > Restore purchases.
- We may change what's included in the free tier in future updates. We won't take away anything you've already paid for.
4. Check the numbers
The app calculates loads from the weights, inventory and rules you enter. Mistakes in inventory, bar weight, unit choice or target entry will produce wrong results.
- You're responsible for what's on the bar. Always verify the load before lifting.
- Plate availability is what you tell the app. It can't know what's on the rack or what another lifter removed.
- Competition mode uses a simplified kilo plate and collar model. Real meets may differ; follow the meet's equipment and officials.
- Display units (kg vs lb for the target) may differ from the plate set used to load the bar when you've chosen mixed display — read the in-app captions when that applies.
Plate Calc isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the IPF, British Powerlifting or any other federation or gym chain.
5. Lifting is at your own risk
The app is a loading calculator, not medical, training or safety advice. Choosing weights and loading the bar is your responsibility (and your coach's, if you have one).
6. Your data
Gym profiles, inventory, saved bars and calculator state stay on your device. We never receive them. See the privacy policy.
You're responsible for any information you choose to store in the app (for example custom bar names) and for using the app lawfully.
7. Your data and backups
Your data is stored only on your device. We can't see it, recover it or restore it.
- If you delete the app, lose your device or delete a gym profile, that data may be gone for good.
- Keep an iPhone backup if you want to move setups to a new device.
- The app may add iCloud or other sync in future versions; we'll update the privacy policy if that changes.
8. Acceptable use
Don't use the app to break the law or to infringe anyone's rights.
9. Updates and availability
We may update, change or stop offering the app, or parts of it, at any time. We'll try to keep your saved data working across updates, but please keep device backups. The app needs a supported version of iOS.
10. Our liability to you
We provide the app "as is". We don't promise it will always be available, error-free or suitable for every gym or competition.
As far as the law allows:
- we aren't liable for losses that weren't a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms;
- we aren't liable for incorrect loads, missed attempts, injury, or damage arising from reliance on the app's calculations;
- our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for the app, if anything.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law. Nothing in them affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
11. Ending these terms
You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it. If you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, your licence to use the app ends.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes where practical. If you keep using the app after a change, you accept the new terms.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you still have the protection of your local consumer law and can bring claims in your local courts.
